Description
Al Khazna, The Treasury, is the most popular and photographed ruin in the Petra Archeology Park. Situated at the exit of 'al Siq', a natural slot canyon used as one entrance to Petra, it is extremely well preserved. While the late afternoon sun illuminates the model, shade allows the natural subtle rose color of the rocks to be well photographed. The building and the many facades, of which there are thousands in the Park, stands as a testament to the stone carvings skills and artistry of the ancient Nabataeans. Located in the Shara Mountains at 2000 years old, this "7 wonders of the new world" was a vital part of ancient trading routes.
